Domaine Skouras

We create unforgettable experiences

George Skouras was born in Argos, one of the oldest towns of Europe with a 3,000 years long tradition of wine and culture.

A long-held vision, the creation of Domaine Skouras materialized in 1986.

Initially, the small wine-making facility was in Pyrgela, a small village on the outskirts of Argos.

The next logical step was the creation of a boutique winery in the Nemea Appellation area, in the village of Gimno.

The story of Domaine Skouras started in 1986, with an emblematic wine, Megas Oenos, which became synonymous with George Skouras.

Back then, Megas Oenos was a pioneering blend of Agiorgitiko and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Today, Megas Oenos is one of the wines with a consistent presence in the world of European wine, with a proven ageing ability, rivalled only by very few Greek wines.

Vineyards

Today, Domaine Skouras owns vineyards in Argolida, in the Corinthia  region and, of course, in Nemea.

At the same time, in order to keep up with market demand, as well as achieving product consistency, the Domaine collaborates with select, quality-oriented vine growers, under the expert guidance of the Skouras viticulture team.

Our “Winery”

Situated among vineyards, the Domaine Skouras winery is an ultra-modern winemaking facility, with an elegant Greek architecture, designed to ensure:

– proper and thorough procedures of the highest standards in all aspects of wine production and bottling

– a first class experience for visitors seeking education, entertainment, initiation to wine or hospitality.

The state-of-the-art grape reception hall features the most modern presses with a crushing capacity of 800 tonnes. The winery equipment is world class, with about 80 temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for fermentation and other procedures.

The impressive one-thousand-barrel cellar has a constant temperature of +14°C and 70% humidity, where our wines are aged under ideal conditions. The high quality of our wines is ensured by time, patience, experience and multiple tasting trials.

The bottling line, with a capacity of 3,000 bottles per hour, is found in a separate, sunlit, hygienically controlled hall.

The three storerooms of bottled wine, with a constant temperature of +16°C and 60% humidity, guarantee the proper ageing of our wines.

Our laboratory is a crucial part of our winery, where experienced oenologists and agriculturalists not only control wines and vineyards, but also formulate experimental and research protocols.

Our laboratory is one of the very few in Europe to collaborate with the laboratories of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO). LCBO is the State Monopoly of Ontario in Canada.

Finally, our winery has modern reception halls, lined with works of well-known artists, large verandas and a beautiful tasting room, which is also a contemporary bistro.

Here, visitors are looked after by our trained personnel, who also speak many languages fluently.

At Domaine Skouras, we welcome our guests daily and offer them guided tours and tastings of our wines.

We are waiting for you to relax with our white wines, flirt with our rose creations and explore our complex reds.
