Everybody knows that relationships are not easy and perhaps that's why we choose to greatly celebrate our wedding day along with our beloved people and our special one.
The ceremony, the love- words between the married couple, the warm kisses, not to mention the wedding party will fill this one of a kind photo album.
The couple’s honeymoon trip will also hold a special place in this shared lifetime.
The Peloponnese is probably one of the best destinations throughout Greece for the married ones and in our article below you will find our proposals if you’re about to decide where to go for your honeymoon.
Is it possible for a tiny small island to contain a whole paradise? Is it possible for 18 square kilometers to create a bunch of memories that your will never ever forget? Could you think of a more idyllic landscape to spend your honeymoon? Elafonisos is the sole answer to all of the above rather rhetorical questions. Because you see, every time someone visits Elafonisos, it’s like the first time.
Walking along Simos beach, with its incredible emerald sea colors and the golden-white fine sand, plus the unique sand dunes that reach 10 meters high, is undoubtedly a hell of experience. Simos is the undisputed star of Elafonisos, providing us an amazing sandy beach that reaches two kilometers and contains two bays.
On one side you will find Sarakiniko or the "big beach”, while on the other hand you will find Fragos or the "small beach". The first one is very crowded since thousands of visitors visit it every year, especially during the summer months, while the second ones is a private paradise.
Half-hidden behind a cedar forest that reaches its fluffy and golden sandy beach, Panagia stands out (where we meet its four islets: Xeropoules, Lepto Nisi, Prasonisi and Kassela), the largest islet of Elafonisos, standing 18 meters height. Every afternoon you wil be able to watch a spectacular sunset that rises from the west of the island. This is probably the best spot to enjoy the sunset in all of its glory. Don’t forget to visit the wonderful small tile-roofed church of Panagia Katonisiotissa!
On the opposite side of Elafonisos you will find Pavlopetri, the oldest sunken state in the world. You can explore Pavlopetri wearing even the most common mask, thanks to its transparent and crystal clear waters. The romantic walks on the waterfront of Elafonisos, plus the delicious plates from the traditional Greek taverns by the sea will make all your friends jealous for not being there with you.
Imposing mountain peaks, deep blue waters and beaches with white pebbles or golden sand bring in mind the famous Aegean waters. Lovely mansions, traditional little villages, flower-filled courtyards and stone-built alleys sculpted by talented craftsmen make Mani the ultimate honeymoon destination. This place has great history that ages very fine over the centuries, thus will give you an unforgettable experience.
On the one side you will find, the Laconic Mani, with the Peloponnesian star Areopolis standing proudly with its cobbled cobblestones and its flower-filled courtyards among tower houses. Close by there is the beautiful Limeni, with its crystal clear waters.
On the other side you will find Messinian Mani. Kardamili clearly steals the thunder of every place next to it, that’s why climbing should be on the top of the list to those who will visit it.
The tiled roofs and the towers give a stately beauty to Kardamili, which must be one of the mandatory stops on your wedding road trip. The diving in the blue-green Alypa and the exotic Porto Kayo, the descent to the fairy-tale Caves of Diros and the Mylolagado Gorge and the hike to the mythical Akrotainaro are necessary stops along your road trip around Mani. Don't forget the village-hopping in Stavri and Tseria and (if you’re a daring hiker) the Byros Gorge, side by side with your beloved one.
Nafplio is on every single Peloponnesian list with the best honeymoon destinations all over Greece. The 857 steps leading to Palamidi castle (which are not in fact 999, despite what the legend says), the cosmopolitan walks through the Old Town have to be captured by your photographic equipment or phone, while Akronaflia offers you a sensational view of beautiful Nafplio.
Everyone who visits Nafplio falls in love with the first capital of the newest Greek state, since every walk on the city's cobbled streets rewards them. The boat trip to Bourtzi, is definitely among Nafplio’s specials. If you are into cycling, then you should try taking the route between Karathona and Arvanitia and then take a dip in their deep blue waters. Do not forget to grab an Italian ice cream in your hand, while strolling the upper neighborhoods in Nafplio, so you will enjoy Syntagma Square.
The magnificent mansions and the floral musk-scented corners give a subtle charm to the narrow streets of Nafplion while delicious snacks from the city's taverns call your name.
