Limeni

Limeni

Actually, Limeni is not a beach.  It has though, amazing waters that will definitely tempt you to dive- that’s what everybody does.

The unusual double coloring of the sea, which at first is the ultimate turquoise color and deeper is deep blue, is due to the fact that the water closer to the shore is sweet, thanks to the underwater currents that end up in the sea.

There are rocks and steps that lead to this magical, natural pool to go diving.

The sea bottom is sandy and the water is shallow at first and deepens as you go further inside.

The Highlights :

Turquoise Waters : The unusual double-coloring of the sea is due to underground freshwater currents, creating a sense of infinite clarity.

The Mavromichalis Tower:The imposing four-story building (the "Palace") that dominates the settlement, bearing witness to its glorious history.

Natural Pool: Access to the water is via rocks and specially built steps, offering the experience of a vast, crystal-clear reservoir.

The Experience Plan (Day by Day):

Day 1: A Dip in History. Morning dive from the rocks in front of the Tower, snorkeling in the sandy seabed, and lunch with fresh fish by the waves.

Day 2: Oitylo Sunset. Tour the settlement's stone tower houses and enjoy an afternoon cocktail watching the sun dip into the Messinian Gulf.

Day 3: Areopoli Connection. Morning swim in Limeni followed by a visit to historic Areopoli to stroll through its stone-paved alleys.

Hero Tip : In Limeni, the water is cooler due to the underground freshwater springs. Keep an eye out for sea turtles that often frequent the bay, providing a unique natural spectacle.
