Part of this beautiful holiday resort is built on the slopes of the asteroid hill that the locals call “Island”. The area, which looms over the port, took its name from the shape (star) of the “Island” hill (it used to be surrounded by the sea). Kynouria draws its name from the ancient settler of the region, Perseus’ son, Kynouro.
